Tooth Separators

Separators are little rubber bands, or metal-type clips, that are inserted to gain space between your teeth so that bands can be placed on the tooth.  Depending on your age, they should remain in place for six (6) to fourteen (14) days

Separators may make your teeth sensitive for three to five days.  It will feel as if you have a piece of meat caught in between your teeth.  You will need to stay away from chewy, sticky foods (such as gum, caramel, taffy, etc.) as they can pull the separators out.
Tylenol or Advil can be taken for any discomfort.

You will not be able to floss your teeth where the separators placed.  However, you can brush your teeth as you normally would.

If a separator should come out please call the office so we can determine if the separator needs to be replaced.
